As kids and college students get out of school for Thanksgiving, the vampire pic enjoys robust weekday business.
Summit Entertainment's The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1 grossed a strong $9.9 million on Monday as teen girls and college students 
began breaking for the Thanskgiving holiday.

Monday's earnings came close to matching the$10.5 million earned by The Twilight Saga: New Moon on the same Monday two years ago.

Breaking Dawn, opening to $138.1 million, has now grossed $148 million domestically. Its international earnings through Sunday 
were $144 million.
The movie continues to pace slightly behind New Moon, which opened to $142.8 million and grossed $153.3 million through its first Monday.
But there's no doubt that Breaking Dawn -- teaming director Bill Condon with franchise stars Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor 
Lautner -- is one of the biggest hits of the year and stands to do big business throughout the Thanksgiving holiday.

The Summit Entertainment pic nabs the fifth largest opening of all time domestically, but falls just short of "New Moon;" Warner Bros.' "Happy Feet Two" sluggish with $22 million, 
while specialty pic "The Descendants" soars with $1.2 million.
Summit Entertainment's The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn--Part 1 opened with a sharp bite around the globe, grossing $139.5 million domestically and $144 million overseas for a 
franchise best $283.5 million.

Bringing the domestic box office to life, Summit Entertainment's The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1 grossed $72 million on Friday for a projected weekend opening 
in the $140 million range. 
Bowing day and date in 54 territories, the film has grossed another $66 million internationally. 
 
The Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner starrer is performing a tad behind The Twilight Saga: New Moon, which opened on the same weekend two years ago to $142.8 million after grossing $72.7 million on Friday.

Breaking Dawn scored the third biggest opening day ever after Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 ($91.1 million) and New Moon.
