STEP UP 3D gets everyone dancing!
17 August 2010
Step Up has been the type of franchise whose success predictably lies in setting modest expectations and then exceeding them. With a tried and true mix of attractive young actors, electrifying footwork, a hip contemporary soundtrack and an easy to digest story, Disney has indeed captured the "lightning in a bottle" that defines a successful dance movie franchise.
Step Up 3D is a dance movie with all the right moves and with its love story put together with some hot, energetic dance numbers makes the movie a definite audience pleaser. It tells the story of a group of New York Street Dancers who team up with a NYU freshman, Moose, played by Sevani who was in the second film. They end up in a dance battle against the world’s best hip hop dancers and take part in an epic show-down.
As the drama of the dance for the first time in 3D, Step Up 3D is the first film of its kind to actually filmed in 3D, a new technological phenomenon, which was previously reserved for high-concept, big budget films.
The movie made an approximate $6 million on its first night of release (06.08.2010). As of August 16th it has grossed $29,844,422 domestically and $32,000,000 in the foreign market bringing a worldwide total of $61,844,422.
