As any Tintin fan will already be well aware, The Adventures of Tintin: Secret of the Unicorn sees actor
Jamie Bell take on the lead role of Tintin himself With this in mind, here's a brief overview of his career so far.
Bell began his stage career as a dancer, after accompanying his sister to her ballet lesson when he was young.
He attended Northfield School, but took additional performing arts classes at performing arts classes at the local
franchise of Stagecoach Theatre Arts School, before joining the National Youth Music Theatre.
In 1999, Bell got his big break when he was chosen to take on the title role in the film Billy Elliot.
This film followed an 11-year-old boy who pursues his passion of learning ballet, to the dismay of several members
of his family. Despite not get being old enough to attend première after-parties, or even just play a game of Partypoker ,
Bell received a huge amount of nominations for his outstanding performance in the film. As a young actor, he then went on
the play a smaller roles in films such as an adaptation of Nicholas Nickleby, Deathwatch, Dear Wendy, and The Chumscrubber.
In the 2005 film version of King Kong, Bell was also cast as a sailor named Jimmy, and voiced the same character i
n the subsequent video game. In the same year, he also appeared in a Green Day music video, opposite Evan Rachel Wood.
In 2007, he received his second BAFTA nomination after playing the title role in the Scottish drama film, Hallam Foe.
He also made an appearance as himself in the lonelygirl15 sister series, Kate Modern. In 2008, Bell appeared in two films
a sci-fi titled Jumper, as well as war drama, Defiance.
During 2009, it was officially announced that Bell would take on the role of Tintin in the motion capture film,
The Adventures of Tintin: Secret of the Unicorn.
Peter Jackson As Captain Archibald Haddock Promoting The Tintin Movie
Peter Jackson Oscar-winning director is seen having fun with a costume, a bottle of rum and a dog in
computer graphicsleading to this this hilarious video of him as Captain Haddock,
to promote the film The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn.
The Tintin Movie Idea
enny Harlin best known for directing Cliffhanger, Die Hard 2 and for the giant flop that was Cut
Throat Island revealed something very interesting whilst promoting his film “5 Days of War”……….
Apparently many years ago he gave Steven Spielberg the idea for making a Tintin movie. Harlin
explained that “After I had just done ‘A Nightmare on Elm Street 4’ (in 1988) one the first people
to call him was Spielberg”. Steven went on to ask him “So is there a movie of your dreams you want to make?”
To which Harlin replied “Seriously?”
At that point Harlin gave him a pile of Tintin books and Spielberg’s company Amblin went after the rights.
The problem was that Herge (Renny claims) was still alive at the time and said no way. It did work out
and Speilberg and Harlin went their separate ways.
Then years later after Herge died Spielberg went after the right again and he got them……so now there is to
be a movie.
A very funny short video in which the director of the Hobbit disguises himself as Archibald Haddock to
amuse the gallery, and show the way it’s done in CGI with Snowy larger than life in the background!
